Calvin Klein One

These adverts are seen as humorous to the males, they are sexualised and the Dove advert is racist.

Brief
You will create a poster for Calvin Klein, a fragrance which is non gender specific.  Traditionally the product is aimed at the youth  (15 – 35) market and is presented against a white background.    For the purpose of this brief you will photograph your subject(s) in a studio setting and location of your choice.   You will emphasize the non-gender specific nature of the product. The brief requires that you will create a layout template and including an image of the product, a New brand Logo with an image of at least two individuals to emphasize the gender-neutral nature of the brand.

Planning…

o  Create a design layout
o  Produce a Calvin Klein logo
o  Photograph the product
o  Photograph the models

o  Create a final poster layout

CK One is a unisex brand.
The colours used within the CKONE perfume advert are white and black which are gender neutral and simple.
The advert consists of both females and males surrounding the same product.
The body language of the people is showing that there is equality because they are all doing the same thing, the males and females aren't doing different things.

The media language of these two posters is that anyone can use this product, people in the shoot are all doing different things, different sexes and all wear the product. The people are reasonable young so that is the target audience.

Calvin Klein One real logos

F stop
On a camera, the aperture setting is traditionally adjusted in discrete steps, known as f-stops. Each "stop" is marked with its corresponding f-number, and represents a halving of the light intensity
Generally shooing at f 8 and higher gives a wider depth of field (meaning more of the image is in focus)
Generally shooing at f 4 and lower gives a narrow depth of field (meaning more of the image is in focus)

Softbox
A softbox diffuses the light into a pleasing soft, even light. When used properly, it reduces harsh shadows. The closer the softbox is to the model or subject, the softer the light appears, emulating window light.

Reflectors are a head shot photographer's best friend. Placing opposite of your main light source creates a great bounce effect for fill light. You can also place a reflector in the subject's lap, or just in front of them at an angle, to soften all of the shadows under the eyes, chin, and to soften sharp features

My models are going to be Erin and Jack

Samir and Katy

The way i have positioned my models are so there is an indirect mode of address as they won't be looking to the camera. They are going to be wearing clothes that attract the young audience such as hats and jeans etc.

Evaluation

I think that the shoots as a whole went well because I got some good shots that I have used in both the studio and the location. I think that the location didn'tt go as well as the studio because we accidentally did some landscape shots and had lots of people there which distracted the models. So if I had to do this again I would have less people there when the shoot is actually happening and be in a less busy area. The layouts that I made helped me with the shots because I had an idea of what I wanted to do and could make small changes instead of thinking of new ideas. I developed my logos but then made new ones that I actually used. I used red to make it and out and show that it is a rare product and used white and black because it shows that the product is unisex. After my research, I used san serif font because it shows a new modern look which describes the product because it is a new modern product The font I used is called Sinala and I had it in bold.  I used this font because it is a simple and modern looking font.  I used black and white colour font to make the logo stand seem unisex and the red to show that there is a connection because it can be worn by both sexes. I developed my logos by changing the location of it, the sizes of the font. The way I edited the image to be black and white is something that I think worked well because it shows a modern simple look to the poster. The possible conniptions that are made from my images are that the models are connected and there is a unity. This is linked to the product being unisex.
